Sheaffer cap bands, especially the Balance variety, have long held a fascination for me. I'm drawn to the 14k and jewelers bands. I'm putting up pictures of a few that I've laid my hands on today. I'd be interested in seeing some not pictured here. Any more for show?
The Red striated Lifetime Balance is a Fullsize from Canada. It seems that most of the unusual bands come from there. A nice easy way for them to jazz up the design after it had passed it's 10th birthday, I suppose. I hadn't handled one like it before I purchased it from a seller in the UK.
The Brown striated with numerous vertical lines is a US made Vac-fil with a number 3 nib. I have the matching pencil also.
The Marine Green with two bands is the pencil from the Canadian set I've shown here before. The close-up shows why I like this one the best.
The Autograph pencil is an Ebonized Pearl. I suppose the 14k band would be the most common of the "jewelers" type if you could call it that.
