I've got a couple of pens I could use some help identifying . . . . . . .
Pen the first, recent snag from eBay -- it was advertised as an Eversharp, and it did arrive in a beat up Eversharp box -- but it's like no Eversharp I've ever seen, or can find in my small library (I'm not complaining -- it was only a few bucks, and I believe the seeler is less informed than I).
It appears to be brown hard rubber (perhaps black a long time ago) -- the barrel is marked "Sunbury National Bank" on the first line, with "Sunbury, PA." in slightly smaller letters on the second line.
The clip wraps around the top about 270 degrees, and is marked "PAT. JUNE 25. 07." The nib is marked "WARRENTED" in an arc, with "14K" beneath it, The hole is heart-shaped, and the cap slips onto the body.
The business end (with the nib and section) unscrews easily from the barrel -- there is no lever, no opening of any kind on the barrel, though there is a small vent hole on the cap.
So, what is this little dear -- is it an eyedrop filler?
Second pen is both easier, and difficult at the same time.
It looks for all the world to be a cheap, aluminum Parker.
Pushbutton filler . . .
The nib is marked: "PARKER" on one line, "DUOFOLD" in the second (both words in an arc) withe "PEN" beneath, follwed by "C" (capital letter C).
I first thought it might be a low cost war-time pen -- but aluminum was pretty thin on the ground during the war, so I don't think it's a war time piece.
I'm guessing it's either a cheap knock off (with a Parker nib and feed, note the really poorly cast clip), or an incredibly rare (and, of course, valuable) production piece.
Pen #1 is a BCHR. (Black Chased Hard Rubber) Eye Dropper filler, with what looks to be a very flexible nib. Nailing down a manufacturer to this one is all but impossible. There were several of manufacturers churning out 'blanks' that the retailers later self branded. I've owned dozens of these over the years & the quality ranges from 'ugh, your kidding right' to some very good pieces. I'm willing to bet yours is in the upper reaches of that.
Pen #2 I've also owned once. Bad news is it's not a Parker. Good news is it's a fairly well made pen. I had to ask around when I got mine, as I'd never seen one before either. The answers I got said it was from the early/mid 1940's. Most likely of Italian or German manufactuer with a Parker front end installed. My advice is to resac it & enjoy both pens..

Number 1 IS a nice writer (I've been using it as a dip pen) -- now all I have to do is find an acual eye-dropper to fill it with -- strange to think that a pen like this may have been left out on a counter for public use, isn't it? The inexpensive, non-branded ball-points at my back are log-chained to the calendar, which is welded to the table, which is bolted to the floor ;-}
Number two was re-saced (is that the past-pluperfect?) within moments of it's arrival in the Entropy Lab (aka, my shop) -- given the front end, it writes very nicely (no surprise) and I was pleased as punch to grab it (found at the Santa Fe Pen store -- great folks, in case you're ever in their neck of the woods, btw).
I appreaciate the infromation, sir! Have a great Thanksgiving!
No sweat at all bud. I'm glad to help out when & where I can.
"Number 1 IS a nice writer (I've been using it as a dip pen) -- now all I have to do is find an acual eye-dropper to fill it with..."
Go to your local pharmacy & ask for an allergy syringe. some places will only sell them by the box (usually $10 or so) The Dr.s ofice will usually give me several blunt syringes when I tell them what they are for.
In a pinch I once used a drinking straw. Dipped it in the ink. finger over the mouth hole, in the barrel release, took a few times but it got filled in the end. Have plenty of paper towells handy for this one though. It can be VERY mesy...lol.
"..strange to think that a pen like this may have been left out on a counter for public use, isn't it?"
Well yes & no. From todays viewpoint, joe average on the street wouldnt know a nib from a nail nor how to proprly use a FP. (I blame the ball points for this...lol) & if made to use a public fountain pen wouldnt have a lot of luck IMHO. (nor would I have high hopes of it surviving for very long before damage or theft). However 'back in the day' this was pretty much the same thing as a chained up ball point on the counter. The writing instrument selection was pretty much limited to a dip pen, fp or pencil of some form. Everyone used them on a daily basis & knew how to properly.
If you ever watch old films, keep an eye in the background. You'll see a lot of 'public' pens like this. Most I've noticed have been desk sets though.

Yep re-saced is the generally used term.
I'm not surprised at all that it's a good writer. Early Duofold nibs like that just kick booty in my opinion. I've always been in favor of 'upgrading' pens like this from a generic 14K nib (or stainless/gp/less than good nib) to a 'name brand' nib. It can take a ho hum writer & turn it into an awesome writer.

To quote my daughter, oh, SNAP -- I've got syringes a-plenty for bleeding brakes on the bikes and cars -- (is there a simple series of keystrokes to indicate the slapping your forehead and getting a V8 anywhere?)
My daughter says that too & it drives me crazy...lol
For the head smacker. When you click reply, look to the lower right of the message field & you'll se some emoticon/faces. click the 'more emoticons' & you'll get a whole list of them.
Time for me to make the bleed forth more of it's life giving nectar. I'm not a hardcore coffee fiend, but I really dig starbucks kopilani blend. It REALLY sucks that it's only a limited run/holiday blend. My friend that gets it for me says this is the last of it until next year. UGH!! I've only got a pound left.
