For several years I've been contemplating what to focus on for my fountain pen collection. Finally, I have figured it out. A revelation! It's all so simple to me now - I'll just collect one of everything!
Eventually you'll reach max saturation & do a major cull only to rebuild again. I'm seriously considering dropping my entire Wearever collection in ebay as one lot or possibly at a big pen show. I know I'm never going to be able to get the book written like I wanted to, so now it's one big collection gathering dust & I could seriously use the coin.

Chris (the wife) has told me for several years that I have reached max saturation. I could probably pay for a good part of my collection if I had a dollar for every time I've heard, "Another pen?" "But, I NEED this" no longer works. "Look at this great pen I got for you!" with a response of "I don't need that" with my response of "Well, if you aren't going to use it, I will" no longer works either. It got really bad when UPS pulled up in front of the house, walked up to my wife on the porch and began to hand her a package, then pulled it out of her hands stating, "Sorry, this is for your neighbor. I'm just so used to coming HERE." (That really happened) What's my definition of maximum saturation? When you bleed Skrip Blue.
And as long as I'm rambling - This is the Musings, Ramblings, Chat & General Monkey Business part of the forum, right?
Remember all those green plastic army men you had when you were a child? I had several bags full of 'em. There were some great battles! Think if you would have used fountain pens for those little buggers instead - Americans vs. Chinese vs. Japanese vs. Germans vs. Italians vs. British. Obviously, Parker, Sheaffer, Wahl, Esterbrook or Waterman would have always won. Plus, as long as you didn't torch 'em (I bet that celluloid would really burn though), you'd have an instant fountain pen collection.
