HisNibs.com update -- New from Duke and Uranus

Hi Everyone,

This update brings a couple of new models as
well as a new finish on an old favorite.

Starting with the old favorite...the Duke
Mako is now available in a deep, navy blue.
This is only apparent under direct light
however, as from a distance it's virtually
indistinguishable from the black.

The first of the new models is also a Duke.
It's the #962 series. The second model -- the
#966 series -- is from Duke's sub-brand, Uranus.

DUKE 962 series



These Duke pens appear very different due to
their very distinctive
patterns-under-lacquer. It's something of an
optical illusion that held side-to-side, they
seem to be different models. The Autumn
Impression tricks one into thinking that it
has a greater girth than the Woodgrain, all
due to its more flamboyant and busy
coloration. I also have a very hard time
believing that the Woodgrain isn't made of
wood, as the apparent grain and coloration is
very convincing.

Uranus 966 series



Here we have a really fun collection of
colorful pens that are quite nice writers as
well. These are full-sized pens, measuring
5-1/2" capped, 5-3/4" posted and 4-3/4" with
cap held aside.

As you can see, there are two basic motifs of
the 966 series. What I've called the sicles
and the more obvious butterflies. The first
two pens, because of the colors used,
immediately put me in mind of an orange
creamsicle and a grapesicle.

The other four models all proudly display a
spread wing butterfly.

One is the glorious Fonthill Castle, nearby
to me in Doylestown, PA. Built by Historian
and archaeologist Henry Mercer almost 100
years ago, it's a true work of art.
