Do we have any fans in the house?

Ordering my first bottle from jetpens in a day or two (just waiting on a couple of ebay auctions to finish first). Decided on a bottle of Tsuki-yo to begin with.

Heres a snap I pinched from google imgs,



Really tempted by teh Asa-gao and kiri-same inks, too, but I'll leave those for another day.

The range has a great reputation from what I've read, how have you guys found it?

And please if you like accompany your posts with pics biggrin

Dennis, JetPens carries the Iroshizuku inks; I'm not sure who else does.

Not two minutes before stopping over here I ordered a bottle of Tsuki-yo from JetPens as a way to celebrate some *very* good news. I'll put up some pics once it gets in.

^ Well as soon as it arrives I DEMAND a nice sample ok?! I filled out the order form from jetpens but at the last moment I realised the pleple pen wrap in my basket was out of stock. They say up to 3 weeks before restock, but I think I might just say bugger it and order the ink by itself.

Dennis, if you read the reviews for the ink you'll see they're qualities are great but they tend to be a bit expensive. Whether you're paying for the ink, the glass bottle, or the addedup transportation cost from their origins in japan, or a combination, they've been said to be well worth it.

IMO the bottles are BEAUTIFUL:;

I've been fortunate enough to have gotten some Pilot Iroshizuku ink samples from an "ink-swap" friend, more fun than just a pen-pal, let me tell ya!
So far I've tried Asa-gao [Bright Sky Blue], Tsuki-yo [Moonlight Night], and my all-time favorite being Fuyu-gaki [Winter Persimmon].
Seeing the bottles I can't wait to get a full one of my own one day, each one is hand-made and very striking in appearance.
With JetPens selling them @ $22.50 for a 50ml bottle they are rather pricey, but I'd found a place in Japan that sells them for $15 to $17.10 per bottle but S&H is a whopping $16 for one, or add an extra $7 per additional bottle to save a little on shipping [to the U.S. for example].
The inks I've tried are gorgeous, free-flowing, very vibrant in color.
While not the least bit water-resistant they're still the best inks I've ever tried and work flawlessly in every pen I've tried them in.

I have a small sample bottle of that same ink, you're going to LOVE it!!!
Oh, congrats on the "good news", let me know when you get your ink and I'll ink up a pen with some Tsuki-yo and join you in celebration!

Inka, where did you get the english translated names for the inks? How have you found Tsuki-yo?

I found the seller in Japan via eBay, the name is "engeika" and the store front is located at this Link.

That grey is quite nice, but I prefer the other, Fuyu-Syogun,

I love using flickr to find snaps. Heres a comparison between the two greys. Fuyu-Syogun is teh bluish one,



The ebay dealer mentioned above has the prices cheaper but I PMed him about his postage and its rather excessive compared to jetpens so I'll stick with them I think. Going to order a bottle of Tsuki-yo and Fuyu-Syogun as soon as money transfers into paypal!

Here ya go, Highbinder.  Sorry for the crummy snap.  This is on Rhodia blank white paper, so you can parse out the white balance from there.  The color looks close enough from paper to monitor.

As you can see, it looks a LOT like Waterman Blue Black and Noodler's Bad Blue Heron. Somehow I always manage to buy inks that look *A LOT* like other inks-- Visconti Brown and Waterman Havana Brown or Pelikan Brown and Private Reserve Orange Crush.

Oh well. At least I like the bottle and the color. I don't think I will order the Iroshizuku inks again. I only got this one because my in-laws sent a little money for me to pick up a birthday present.

I'm really liking the looks of Bad Blue Heron in that scan!
Bad Blue Heron looks very similar to my all-time favorite Noodler's Coral Sea, seems to have a touch of green to it.
I have some Tsuki-yo, but it's way too close to other blue inks I have to really knock my socks off.
I think if I was to buy a bottle of Iro' it might be the KuJaki [Japanese Peacock], but then again I also would like a full bottle of Sailor Kiwa-guro nano-carbon black, I'm almost out of my tiny sample bottle and it's become my favorite ink for daily use in my VP carry pen.
Now if I could buy an empty Iroshizuku bottle, buy some Bad Blue Heron, then fill the Iro' bottle with that I'd be a happy puppy!
I think I'm still going to fill one of my pens with Tsuki-yo now just because you did, maybe do a scan of my own and post it here later.
Did you say "birthday"? When's the event??? I didn't see it listed in your profile.

Um, nevermind, after cranking up the brightness of my monitor, took another look @ Bad Blue Heron, I no longer see any green tint to it, nothing like Coral Sea at all.
Heavy sigh, guess I'm stuck still wanting Coral Sea and no way I'd pay to get it all the way from Australia, costs too much to the states.
Bummer...

I use 1oz Nalgene bottles for samples I ship.
I get 2dram glass bottles from my ink-swapping partner, who usually ships several different inks at a time.
I'll add your birthday to my Outlook Contact list, thanks.

I just wrote up this Tsuki-yo review moments ago, written with a nice, wide Cursive Italic nib it really shines.
This ink shades much better on better paper, such as RHODIA or BN'R, not as well on this Hammermill copy paper...

blue grey is good, but i'm looking for a perfect grey!!

i have a bottle of omas grey and love in some pens, in others is too light!!

do you (or anyone here) know how these two compare (omas vs. kiri same)?
