Up until recently I've been a original wax seal sort of guy using the resin based material that is a crap shoot whether it gets through the US mail. Well As I was at a Michaels there was gold and silver flex wax in the wedding section so I thought I'd pay the $5 for a mini glue gun and a few sticks to give it a go.
Well on first glance the stuff really works well- much easier to handle than the open flame type of wax. It makes a very nice impresion and from feedback Iv'e gotten went through the mail no problem.
The only issue is that the darn stuff isn't quite opaque the stick was gold with sparkles but the wax coming out was more of a transparent yellow or grey.
I guess the long and short of it is I am going to use both types but will be on he lookout for opaque of the flexible stick.
I gave up on stick wax a long time ago. Norman Hasse of Hisnibs.com sells a LOT of colored glue sticks in a couple of sizes for next to nothing. I just ordered some more a few days ago. if you take the stick and split it length wise, you can then take 2 different colors, hold them together & insert them into the gun, you get some wild swirl action going on. be sure to chill your stamp before you use it. The cold helps to set it faster & give a clean 'break' when separating the seal & wax.

Check out J. Herbin sealing wax. The sealing wax is somewhat flexible, so okay for mailing. The stuff is completely opaque and has an amazing metallic look to it. It comes in sticks that you melt over a flame, real old-school type stuff.
