Will have R&K Alt gold grun in the morning...supposedly a wet ink.

I have De Atramentis Alt Bordeaux rot. Some guy has been having trouble with De Artamentis being full of crap on FPN.
I don't yet have any problem. But I only have one bottle bought last year not this.

Going to get Waterman South Sea blue too, a wet ink. And a Hurbin ink I forget which, being it was a whole two days ago that I ordered it. Vert Empire.....
I have a local school paper and pen and ink and newspaper shop down the road, a 15 minute walk.

I will be then a 10 Ink noobie. Most of my inks were "dry", and I need a selection wet, dry and medium.

My best ink right now is MB Toffee, a real good shading ink.

De Atramentis and R&K E-8.50-9.00 are twice as expensive as Pelikan and Lamy, about what Noodler costs me. But being in Germany I thought I'd do local Euro inks first. Starting with the German inks.

I'm getting some German papers together, so I can test my pens, inks against this and that paper.
I'll post results one way or the other.

I expect to drag some 12-15 (a couple of nails, regulars and my semi-flex) pens through 10 inks, on hopefully, five German manufacturer's paper... with luck I can get a very few sheets of those French papers, as comparisons. Got to cheap out somewhere, now don't I?

I really want to stay away from too many reds in I have mostly piston pens, or converter pens...don't want to stain the windows or the converter. That herbine 16 waht ever the hell looks good,  Later when I get some Wearevers and Easteis re-sac'ed I can do red.

It was a bit more specific than your rough characterization, but I guess that would be me.  I just talked to Art Browns today about the 56 bottles, and although they also see the strands and pieces in bottles they have, there has been no response from Dr. Jansen other than he has been selling inks for 25+ years, and never had any problems, so their choice is to stop selling his line or quit pestering him.

The heart of the problem is I only saw the contaminants in light colored inks (yellow/orange), and because I got them in the unique wedge pie shaped bottles which have much greater visibility in the narrow wedge angle to see through.  Once I found the problem, notified Art Browns, who notified Jansen, who replaced all 56 bottles, it was considered settled.  Until I saw the same solid particles in the replacement bottles as well.

After that, Art Browns looked very carefully with a bright backlight at their specific lighter colored round bottles, and saw the same exact thing in those on their shelf.  The issue now is just sitting there like a turd in the punchbowl, because with all the bottles that Art Brown has sold, noone is reporting back to them that they are having a problem with the ink clogging their pens.  So while they basically agree with my findings, they are choosing the path of continuing sales.

Meanwhile, I am pouring each bottle through lab grade filter paper, adding Tryphon's Steril-Ink (biocide), washing bottles out and letting sit for 15 mins with 20% bleach, then rinsing thoroughly, and transferring filtered, biocided ink back into original bottles where it will sit unused for 3 months to see if anything shows up again.  It is a very time consuming process, but I am certain that the materials were large and strong enough that they would clog a pen.  In addition with my lab grade microscope (with oil immersion lens), I confirmed fungal infections in the 12 bottles I took samples from, both in original and replacement bottles.

Could be my D A bottle is dark and I don't have a good enough light source. Just checked it again against my best light source a "very bright" 60 W new style "energy saving" bulb. =125/150 old watts or so.

Well I won't be ordering ink from that woman again, can't get me Herbin or H&R and got me Waterman Florida Blue instead of the South Sea Blue...which shades.

Florida Blue appears to be a wetter ink; which I was looking for.....makes some of my nibs write wider, but it does not yet shade. Well, it shades not nearly using a semi-flex OF as much as Lamy Turquoise using a Semi-flex OB, on a slightly better paper. I really got to look for it to see slight indications of shading.
I'll have to run it through the paper test I'm still planning.

It makes my semi-flex OF write medium...It does make me wonder exactly what grade of semi-flex I have on that nib. That I'll be doing soon too, when I eventually get those other three inks. Grading my semi-flex, I got one on the barely semi-flex to one that's max semi-flex.

One of my two EF was dipped and got EF. It must be a matter of flex then.

It was not the ink I wanted, and I'd not looked, Waterman and open was the bottle.
Rats.....It was an ink I was going to get eventually....some day.... not this year.

Back to Plan A-2. I want ink that shades....

Like I said, I would not have seen this ink contamination had it not been for the narrow wedge shaped bottles, and the yellow/orange inks which are pretty transparent. Those were the colors that Art Browns confirmed it in when looking at the standard round bottles.

I could only find problems with some of the darker inks by putting a drop on a microscope slide and coverslip, and/or seeing accumulation on lab filter paper.  My specific details and longer post is at FPN here.

I have their Coffee ink, and I like the color. But the smell is weird. It doesn't smell like cofee to me at all. However, I can't judge objectively: my olfactory nerve is damaged.
Does anyone else thinks that their coffee ink smells a little fishy?
