HisNibs.com update --Purple Rain and calligraphy brush
September 16th, 2013

Greetings,

OK, the title was just to attract fans of Prince . It's just that after
mentioning the paucity of purple pens a week ago with the introduction of
the Purple Celluloid http://www.hisnibs.com/purple_celluloid.htm from
Jinhao, it feels like it's raining purple with the addition of the Royal
Purple version of the Arrow Clip from Baoer, profiled further on in the
newsletter.

We also introduce a new multifunction brush pen from Duke. Unlike the
previous version we carried, this pen allows you to screw-in a faux brush
for Chinese calligraphy (or other art endeavors), or switch it with a
smooth-flowing rollerball tip.

As this newsletter goes out to a mailing list of thousands of customers,
please understand if there's a delay in answering your email queries or
orders after one of these is sent. We will respond in order received and as
soon as possible!

lively meeting place for news about pens, ink and handwriting.

Baoer Arrow Clip fountain pen series

Here's a trio of full-sized pens, measuring 5-1/2" capped, 6-1/4" posted and
4-7/8" with cap held aside.

Interestingly, my camera didn't like taking the Tiger Eye and the Royal
Purple in the same photo, color-wise. If I had an accurate reflection of the
Royal Purple, then the Tiger Eye would loose its deep orange/brown tint.
Conversely, adjusting that pen to reflect reality, would turn the purple
blue (as shown in this group shot)! So, I've taken enough photos of the pens
individually for you to see their true colors on the website, but the group
shots are off one way or the other.

DUKE Brush Multifunction pen

Introducing a multifunction pen from Duke, which can convert from a faux
brush for Chinese calligraphy to a rollerball tip, either fed by liquid ink.

The cap has the standard Duke clip, with crown logo, but is topped by a
lovely ruby jewel. The cap band is encircled with cloisonné-style lotus
blossoms, and opposite the clip is a raised silver representation of the
bodhisattva Guanyin, the Chinese goddess of mercy.
