I was surprised this evening to see a nice selection of Sheaffer pens displacing part of the usual Cross offerings at my local OD. Only picked up a black VFM rollerball to complement the FP I bought a couple of years ago.
I received a ruby red Sheaffer VFM ballpoint for Christmas two years ago. I like it, and it feels like a well-built pen (with an average blue refill) with a solid refill click mechanism. Really "Vslue For the Money". And I bought a matte gray Sheaffer 100 twist ballpoint at the local Staples in 2014, and it also has a good build quality for the price.
My USA made Sheaffer ballpoint Prelude, Legacy, Targa, Crest Reissue, Valor, Sentinel and Triumph models do have a perceived higher level of quality that is missing (to my mind, rightly or wrongly) in the newer pens. But I will still buy other Chinese-made Sheaffers as the urge/opportunity occurs.

My shirt came to me, wrapped up all in black, something funny told me, I'd have to send it back.
Although I couldn't make it fit, I knew I'd have to try. Now I'm telling all of you, I will never buy....
