Here is a photo of my modern Sheaffer Balance F.P. collection. For a while I was looking for the 1997 Limited Edition Lever filler and just recently got one at a bargain price.
I believe there are two additional versions. The first is a clear "salesman's" demonstrator of the 1997 Limited Edition (very uncommon) and a second one that I recently learned about, an all Black pen similar to the Disney but marked to honor William Shakespeare.
Hey Jack. I'm guessing you mean 1997 instead of 1977 but I could be wrong as modern Sheaffer's are less my thing. I would be blown away by a LE Demo. If I come across either I'll shout your way. I'll get one of the regular 1997 LE's one of these days but my dollars keep getting pulled a different direction.
I'm wondering, Jack, if you could comment on the cracked cap lips I hear these pens are prone too. Have you had this problem? First run pens only, continuous problem or not a problem at all?
When I first got the Crimson Glow pen, it shortly thereafter developed a lip crack. I send it back to Sheaffer and they replaced the cap. That was 3 1/2 years ago. I don;t know what their repair status is these days or if in fact they have any repair parts left.
Since the Crimson Glow problem, I have been reluctant to post the caps on the other pens when writing with them so I haven't had a recurrence.
I had a Sheaffer dealer who told me it was a chronic problem with the early ones. I'm guessing they made a slight change in the barrel end to eliminate the problem, if indeed they did.
