His Nibs.com update --Another passing

I'm not sorry to have seen February, 2009
pass into history. As mentioned in the last
update, Teresa's oldest brother passed away
at the beginning of the month. The month
closed on the 28th with the unexpected
passing of my mother.

I wouldn't ordinarily mention these events in
a business newsletter except when they
produce interruptions of service, as our trip
to Cincinnati to be with Teresa's family did.
However, those of you who have been customers
for many years and have received these email
updates have become like an extended family
and have read humorous asides about my mother
from time to time here. I've set up a
memorial page for those who knew Mom
personally, but also wanted to share
a fairly recent article about her which can
be found on the website

If you go to the page, please move the scroll bar all the
way to the right, which centers the article. Thanks again to all of
you who learned of her passing through other venues
and expressed so many wonderful messages and
condolences.

Now, back to the fun stuff -- pens! New this time is
another interesting design from the Chinese pen company
Jinhao. I call this model 'Flames', for rather obvious
reasons.

All four colors of the Pilot 78G with the 'B' stub/italic nib
are once again in stock.

Also fully back in stock are all colors of Private
Reserve ink....bottles and cartridges.

This is actually a rather demure pen at first glance, as
the black dome resting in the gold cap top peeks from
your pocket. Even the clip, with it's 'J' and variably-
sized chevrons manage to allay any fears. Pull this
red-hot beauty from out of your pocket though, and
things start to heat up.

Pilot 78G 'B' nib



These are acrylic pens, so very light-weight. One can
therefore write for hours without any fatigue. They
measure 5-1/8" capped and 5-3/4" posted. The clip
says 'Pilot' near the bottom and the wider of the two
cap rings is interrupted on the back of the cap
with 'Japan'.

The cap itself screws onto the barrel and when
removed reveals the gold-plated steel, spear-shaped
nib. As mentioned above, the 'F' nib is equivalent to a
western x, or even xx-fine, the 'M' nib to a western fine,
and the 'B'
is actually a stub/italic.
