Hello and Welcome!

Welcome to the forum!

I have noticed a lot of positive traffic, and input on the forum in recent weeks.
I have only been here since the fall, and I can count at least 15
additional members besides myself!

We have had at least a dozen since the beginning of the year.
However, only one has managed to say hello here in that time!

You input is appreciated, and needed!
You are free to express yourself here on FPC,
(Refer to "The Rules" topic) within reasonable parameters of course! wink

I'm off the soapbox now! biggrin

Remember to say hello, and feel free to ask questions/advice! We are all here to learn more and pass any knowledge on to you!

Hi everyone...... Have been interested in fountain pens for a couple of years and have sort of specialized in Wahl Eversharp, epically the Doric and Deco Band models.  Also any faceted pens like the Parker "Parkette" models made in Canada (I think).  Since I have been collecting and restoring antique clocks and men's art deco wristwatches for a lot of years it was natural to try restoring my pens, it has proved to be very enjoyable.

hello Frank, 

I am a neophyte that just became hooked on Fountain pens. Almost an obsession(but a healthy one 8).

Of couse I scrutinized my reasons for it and can probably say for certain the reason is that fountain pens(especially the vintage) represent stability and endurance. The way commodities were manufactured in the "good old days" built to last a life time(especially here in the USA). Our society today will buy things knowing they are disposable and dispensible and casually discard them without much thought. It also probably carries over to our own personal relationships. If you have good relationships work on making them last a long time(therefore but the time into them). 

Enough of the serious comments. I recently saw a dvd(albeit scratched) of Dennis Lively showing his expertise on repairing fountain pens and was impressed on how much dedication he showed in this art. Since then I have adopted it as a hobby. I managed to get in touch with Dennis(a gentleman and scholar) and hence a referral to this site.
