How the Hell do I:

Make it so that clicking on a topic takes me to the most recent unread (by me) post in that topic? I know clicking on the most recent poster's name takes me to the latest post, but clicking on the topic just takes me to the first post in the topic, whether or nit I've already read it.

I hit the "Recent Posts" button on the menu bar at the top of the page.
I'm not sure of any other way to do this!

DWL has also added recent posts to the "Chatbox" at the bottom of each page.
This is also an option from that menubar!

There are other cool things on that menu (option) bar, including a calender
(Birthdays/Start Date) and an Arcade (Games) section!

yup, frank has it right. those are the only ways I know of to do it. I've got a call into sparklit (our board host folks) about a few additions i'd like to add to the site but they haven't gotten back with me yet.

Not quite what I meant, gents; that gives me the list of recently posted-to TOPICS, which I already know. What I'm after is what many other forum systems do: when you click on the title of a topic you're taken to the first post within that topic that you haven't read, bypassing all the posts before it.

Try this:
Go to User Details at top-middle of page and click.
On left side, go under Profiles and click on Settings.
Under Settings list, find Order of Topics & drop-down list, usually set to Forum Default, click to drop-down.
Options are Last Modified/Views/Started By/Start Date/Subject.
I believe you'll want "Last Modified" if you want to go to the last post in a thread, so click that to highlight and click Save Changes below it.

I haven't tried this yet, but this might work for you.
Give it a shot and please do let me know if I've helped, or not helped.

Oh, just tried it, there's another thing you might have to check off.
While in User Details>Profile/Settings>under Order of Topics is also seen Order of Comments.
In that drop-down I see 2 options; Oldest First & Newest First, select Newest First and click Save Settings.
I'm about to try it myself, if it doesn't work I'll let you know.

Okay, I made the changes. Now I just have to go away and come back after someone else has posted something to see whether it worked.

Dang, sorry about that Chief.
When I did it, I was taken to the very last post in a thread, it didn't take me to the last post I'd read.
I don't see post numbers with this Board style either, so unsure if it's even possible to Link to a specific post in any threads.
Then again, I am such a green-horn here I have much to learn still.

I tried.

Yeah, Sorry about all that guys!

This board may not be as elaborate as some, and may be difficult to navigate at times.
But, I do like the layout of it! I think it is fairly user friendly!

You gotta love the features it has as well! (Chat/Arcade/Calendar that you customize).
As for additional features, I checked on that myself earlier this year, Activeboard gave me the impression that more options meant more fees.

I actually do like this Board style, the default beige is MUCH easier on the eyes than those all-white boards!
I also liked the Arcade area, spent some time playing Asteroids and had a blast doing so.

Also would much appreciate a way to set an email default so I'll automatically get a reply for every topic I post to.

May be able to help with that, since I DO get e-mail notifications to every post I subscribe to. It's not automatic, as with some Board styles.

When you start a thread, or make a post, under this box I'm typing in you'll see a check-box that next to says "Email me whenever there is a new post to this topic.". Check it and click Submit Post!

You can also subscribe to a thread/topic at any time by going to top of thread and click on Subscribe, upper-right of each thread/topic.

 

I hope that helps/works for you and f not post back and I'll try again. Not fully clear-headed just yet but I think that'll work for you.
