I know a lot of you are much like me in that you prowl the dusty rooms of antique malls. When I still lived in Jefferson City I had a regular shop route I would hit asking for pens on a regular basis. It's been a few months since I've been around. I live 45 minutes away now so regular stops aren't going to happen. I made the rounds and only one paid off.

The owner said she thought I'd given up on her as a pen source. She told me she had found some in a box and set them aside for me. She whipped them out. I gave them a really quick peek and had to hit the road back home. I asked what she wanted, agreed it was back in the car with a thanks and call me when you find more.

I didnt really look at them until I got home and was blown away.

The first to catch my eye was the monster (11 9/16" long) #19 American Pencil Co dip pen and accompanying American Lead Pencil Co "Midget" nib. Oh did I mention it's never seen ink.

NOS Orange Sheaffer NN with a fine nib. Went to my son Nathan (turning 11 on Thursday) He loves it.

A 1Q1945 51 w/ a 1/10 16K GF Lined cap. 4 straight lines space 4 straight lines space pattern. Fine EF nib date code of 2q 42.  And to top it of it's about as close to nos as it gets w/out being such.

A small 4 3/4" capped 1936ish Sheaffer Balance, non lifetime. #3 semiflex nib. Excellent condition.

And then there is the little lady Duofold. I pulled the nib and got the layers upon layers of crap off of it and nearly sharted when i saw it was a first year/generation 2 tone arrow nib (with the gold arrow still in excellent condition) vacumatic nib!!!










I think I did ok. Sorry for the crappy pics. My hands a bit shaky tonight & the lighting in here REALLY sucks for good pics.

The pics are post cleaned up. The 51 has a good diaphram, but it's old. I'm going to inik it & risk the failure here at the desk until my sac order gets placed. I've got a lot of awesome vintage on the way in and just waiting on rubber to be road ready. Get yer tradin' hats on fellas. After I pull the $500 cash I need for the rest of the household bills to be paid off. The barter light will be turned on. Just wait & see what i have..hee hee hee

after you break the pen down to it's component pieces, a run through the ultra sonic cleaner then give it a rub down with q tips and simichrome polish. If it's REALLY nasty I'll use a linen knapp wheel on my dremmel. Dont use a felt wheel as it generates way too much heat.
