Thats the general idea anyway, a nice RX7. And yes I would do the same as in that last snap - switch out the rotary engine with a smallblock (chevvy) V8.
First Generation Hummer, in original military OD-Green camouflage, with the original mil-spec plywood based seats removed & replaced with custom wrap-around seats with folding arm rests, adjustable lumbar support, filled with memory foam inside. I also want one with the full mil-spec HUD [Heads-Up-Display] that shows in the windshield glass like those on some fighter jets! I want one with an original military-spec engine too, the one that will run on nearly anything, from gasoline, diesel, kerosene, whatever fuel you throw at it basically. I love my current 4x4, don't use it much these days but it's nice to know it's there should I need or want it. I'd also have the snorkel air intake installed and the breathers for the differential that ride high, so I can almost go swimming with it in case of hurricanes and/or massive flooding. OK, can't have my "dream-vehicle" without a lifetime supply of fuel too, since it's not a "Dream car" but a fuel-guzzling monster. That IS, and always has been, my "dream-ride". Oh, I can't have just one either, I'd want to get a Range Rover in 4x4 for the wife to drive too, once again with a lifetime gas card so the tank remains eternally full!

I'd love to be able to get away with a Mini-Cooper or any small car that's good on gas. Problem for me is I've been rear-ended 5 times since 1974, got severe spinal damage from a few. Where I live now there is an accident every single morning and every single afternoon, during rush-hour, many with severe injuries. I won't drive anything that won't withstand a 50 mph impact from a full-size pickup or Cadillac, since if the vehicle can't take it I'm sure my body can't either.
P.S. to jar; that MC hand-stand had me rolling! That would scare the begeezus out of me if it happened unintentionally. The car sound reminded me of those little gas-powered RC vehicles, kinda looked like one too running around the cones. That was fun to watch.

Well for me I'm quite happy with my 'dream car', because really it could well turn out not to be a dream!
You can buy a used RX7 for between 5 and 10k depending on the quality. Because of the tolerances of the rotary engine they need to be rebuilt every 60-100k, so quite often the lower end of the price range will be nice cars but with 'dying' engines. In comes a V8 from a chevvy, you're talking maybe 350-400bhp at ~5k for the engine, plus a transmission. Get a garage to do the work for ya (one down south from me) which'll add maybe another couple of k, light body kit depending on the age of the car and a couple of minor upgrades (paint, seats, alloys, tires) and you rou run the engine N/A, no fancy stuff just a lovely sounding 8 and you have a reliable fast beautiful car for more than likely under 20000£ total
Of course this is all theory, and I don't have £20000 to drop on one just now, but I take comfort in knowing I lust after a car that I could very well end up owning, rather than, say, a Bugatti Veron (or however you spell it)
Well for me I'm quite happy with my 'dream car', because really it could well turn out not to be a dream!...
When you put it that way, I would love to have my last-year-production 1996 that came fully equipped, full-size Eddie Bauer Bronco upgraded as my perfect semi-reachable dream [yeah, right, maybe if I hit the Lottery!]. I'd like the entire body repainted with a nice copper metallic custom paint with multiple layers of clear-coat metallic added for protection and added spark. I'd pull out the OEM seats and have some custom seats installed that have the side supports and Captains' Chair folding armrests. I'd have the instrument panel pulled and replace all the analog gauges replaced with custom LCD/LED display. New 16" magnesium wheels to replace my 15" mag' Outlaw rims [one of them is bent, shimmies @ 80mph]. Rear disc brakes to replace the drums & new HP front rotors, 4-piston brake calipers all around. New all-terrain tires. The entire wiring harness replaced since the wire insulation & connectors on mine are becoming brittle as cheap glass from the HOT summer Florida sun. All the rubber @ the windows replaced with fresh black silicone rubber. The rubber bushings replaced in the steering & suspension with red silicone bushings. New carpeting & padding. A new sound system/CD player with removable security face-plate and 6-point surround-sound speakers. Since my 351ci /5.8 liter Windsor Canadian V8 is still running strong with nearly 170k miles, it has extreme low-end toque for towing & 4-wheeling from having a short rod stroke, I'd keep it and have it rebuilt/blueprinted with all new high-performance parts. Fresh glass all the way around, especially the windshield which is sand-blasted from living so near to the Atlantic Ocean. All new gold-impregnated window tinting since the tint I have now has begun to peel from the extreme summer heat and sun here. A second gas tank added. A second battery. A back-up electric fuel pump since I just had one go bad on me while the wife was driving it. Hmmm, I know I'm leaving something out but those are the basics. All that would really add up, but most likely less expensive than my "Dream Hummer" would be, a bit more doable.
