Jevvy, I've always written (kept a sporadic journal, poetry) but always wrote with a pencil.. I prefered the rustic tactile sensation, the carthartic scratchings of a pencil :) Always liked FP (my grandmother wrote with one), and I spotted what I thought was a 'cool' pen on ebay one day (Visconti Van Gogh in musk), ended up buying it, and the rest has just grown from that.
Writing is a big part of my life so FPs just add another dimension of pleasure to it, you know?
I explain to others that switching from a ballpoint to a FP made all the difference to me because I could feel the texture of the page and the nib more easily. Most folks aren't aware of it until you point it out. Same goes for using a pencil rather than a BP
Stu, Just so you know, my 13 yr old daughter thinks you hawt..lol
Diplomat, Man I REALLY like that mask. What can you tell me about it? (cool pic too)
Dennis, that is a typical Venetian "Bautta". Now it's used for Carnival parades and parties, but the origin of it are quite scary.
Around the XVII century, the pest came to Venice. The medical knowledge was not advanced and it was believed that the pest were spreading by inhaling corrupted air.
So people were used to wear those masks, the Bauttas, with a large nose were a mixture of herbs would prevent to take the pest.
The pic was taken in front of the Palazzo Ducale, one of the most known places in Venice.
That is a stunning pic. I can only imagine what it's like to be there in person.
What do masks like yours generally cost (in US$$) & would you be willing to ship one this way if I sent you the cash for it? I have a friend that collects masks & this would be a wonderful addition to her collection.
