The criteria is simply, make it a basic line drawing and let your imagination run. The winning submission will be used for the sites logo.
Contest 1: Design a logo for our humble forum. The name is of course The Fountain Pen Community. I'd like it to reflect that somehow.
The winning submissionwill receive a prize better than any I've given out to date. I'll not say exactly what the pen is, but trust me when I say your not going to believe your eyes and will most likely to lose your mind with joy.
***UPDATE***
I can say what it is now.
The winning artist will receive a one of a kind 'thank you' pen from TFPC & The Savage Pen Co. I'll even let the artist help in the design of the pen overlay if the wish.
Hows that for motivation to get creative folks!
Hand drawn & scanned, digital or other means, submit any way you can in any medium you want. As it stands right now Kurt is slated to be the new owner of that pen.
Have fun & lets see what you can come up with!

I dig it man! Do you mind doing a few different styles/designs? We could have a community vote to see which of yours we'd like to use.
First off the logo should NOT have a nib in it. The other two sites have a very similar looking logo with a nib smack in the center.
Same for the shape of the logo- a Triangle with the words spaced nicely is better than a round.
As for the central image- I felt that something showing a pen actually being used rather than just being stored would show nicely that we do in fact use as well as collect these things.
The colors were just personal preference.
the edging had the look of a stamp to also tie in that pens are meant to be used.
The font is bold but easy to read and fits nicely within the banner. I thought about using some others but just liked the rough hewn look of this one.
I like your reasoning. The only suggestion I have is rather than a quill/dip pen. How about a pic from a vintage ad (or something that reminds us of that) of a hand holding a fp. Sort of like the 51 ad that Binder uses.

Yeah man I dig the colors. Sort of slides right along with the color concept I have for Savage Pens.
After we get a few submissions, we'll start a vote & see where things go, but as of right now, Kurt's 1st in line for the one off Savage TY pen prize. (see updated original post)
As the winning logo will be decide by communal vote, I don't see any problems with me (or anyone else) commenting and offering suggestions to any and all submissions.
GL folks! I cant wait to see what come out.

The only problem with a group of pens is that the larger the group the smaller each pen has to be. maybe something with two crossed pens and something like the IM logo with nibs instead of heads might work....
