I was after what I carelessly thought was a 140 Pelikan having seen a quick 40, and it looked like my 140...my wife said smething about wanting the ball point pen in the lot...In a zippered Pelikan leather pen bag was a 400NN, 450 (Guenter Wagner), 455. Well she's not getting it. Aslo in the lot was some sort of MB pen....a 234 1/2.
I was really after the semi-flex OF of the Pelikan, and the MB had a semi-flex nib too....a KOB.
Murphy is my God...it was a 1956 Pelikan 400NN, the year that Pelikan got stupid and put in a friction feed....so much for swapping that nib into my 400. It's a very very nice semi flex OF nib.
That MB 234 1/2 is the delux model from 52-55, and balances for me, perhaps best of all my pens, and has a nib that is fighting it out with my 140 OB. It has the early Meisterstuck clip, and a thicker nice looking single cap end.
I'd like it just as much if it did not have the snowflake.
Over on MB section, I'd been informed that a 2xx was Second Tier.....well First Tier got to go a long dam way's to beat that pen. The nib is not quite as fancy as the 146/9.... it's a 4 1/2 sized nib..... which expalins the odd number of it and the 324 1/2. It's a dam fine pen. It's after 2 in the morning so, I'll see if I have a picture in the morning.
