HisNibs.com update -- Chinese additions July 27th, 2012
Greetings,
Thanks to everyone for making our 15th Anniversary Sale such a success! I promise to have another on our 30th.
The sale wiped us out of a lot of pens, but most of the Montblanc and Conklin models are on their way and will be re-stocked within the coming week.
For those of you still waiting for your pre-ordered black chased Conklin Crescents http://www.hisnibs.com/crescent.htm, Conklin is still awaiting arrival of your pens. I will of course ship immediately upon receiving them myself.
Also, some of you are still awaiting arrival of your complementary Monteverde ink http://www.hisnibs.com/monteverde_ink.htm. They have now all been shipped, so you should receive them shortly.
In this newsletter, we're introducing additions to two popular Chinese models. First, is the DUKE Harlequin, which joins the #116 Carbon Fibre line (although it's not carbon fiber, which is why it's on a separate page).
The red/gold Jinhao Dragon Overlay is now joined by a gorgeous white/gold version.
As this newsletter goes out to a mailing list of thousands of customers (July marks our 15th year of business), please understand if there's a delay in answering your email queries or orders after one of these is sent. We will respond in order received and as soon as possible!
Join us on our Facebook HisNibs.com fan page which can be reached directly at https://www.facebook.com/HisNibs1. Come join us for what has become a lively meeting place for news about pens, ink and handwriting.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DUKE #116 Harlequin
The DUKE #116 Harlequin is an understated, full-sized pen with classic lines. Measuring a bit over 5-/14" capped, its posted length is a full 6-1/4" and 4-3/4" with cap held aside.
The cap itself is topped by a crown, reminiscent in shape to that used on the Pelikan Sovereign series, and overall the shape and feel of the pen evokes images of that great German pen.
Here's another gorgeous pen from Jinhao...the Dragon Overlay -- now in white/gold. This slim pen measures 5-1/4" capped, 6-1/4" posted and 4-3/4" with cap held aside.
The overlay is quite intricate, and features a dragon on both the cap and the barrel. The underlying red or white lacquer on the brass pen really makes the gold-plated overlay 'pop'!
June 1942. Lockheed Vega aircraft plant at Burbank, California. "Hollywood missed a good bet when they overlooked this attractive aircraft worker, who is shown checking electrical sub-assemblies." 4×5 Kodachrome transparency by David Bransby for the Office of War Information.
"This is a rare and fabulous series of pictures shot on Kodachrome sheet film (4x5 inches) and is of exceptional quality shot in 1942. It also captures a slice of life we will never see again...when an entire country was behind a war effort.
