HisNibs.com update -- New pen storage and major re-stocking
December 3rd, 2012

Greetings all,

New on the website with have 48-pen leather cases and well as quite unique 12-pen faux leather pen wallets. They're both available in black or brown, and very low prices.

NOTE: All of the 48-pen cases have sold out to my regular newsletter subscribers -- who received this on notice on December 3rd, but more are on their way (approximately 10 days until arrival).

We received a very large re-stocking shipment from China this week. There are two many models to cover in this newsletter, so I'll just mention a few. I've put all of them up on the homepage http://www.hisnibs.com for your perusal.

As this newsletter goes out to a mailing list of thousands of customers (July marked our 15th year of business), please understand if there's a delay in answering your email queries or orders after one of these is sent. We will respond in order received and as soon as possible!

Join us on our Facebook HisNibs.com fan page which can be reached directly at www.facebook.com/hisnibs1. Come join us for what has become a lively meeting place for news about pens, ink and handwriting.

New pen cases

I don't think I need to spend a lot of time in describing pen cases -- the photos on the website really do the job for me.

NOTE: All of the 48-pen cases have sold out to my regular newsletter subscribers -- who received this on notice on December 3rd, but more are on their way (approximately 10 days until arrival).

Suffice it to say that the 48-pen size is great for long-term storage of a collection or for attending a pen show, while the nifty 12-pen wallet is really great for regular traveling.

Duke Golden Rings re-stocked

The Duke Golden Rings has literally been out-of-stock for years. I had been told it was no longer produced.

Crocodile Outre re-stocked

"Hi Norman. I never did get a chance to write you when my Outré came in, but it is such a wonderful pen. Writes amazingly well and is attractive and pleasing to the eye. Thanks for another great pen! Looking forward to my next purchase!"
C. E., Toronto, Canada

"Norman, I received my pens last week. I really like both the Crocodile Outré, and the Monteverde Invincia Stealth. They write beautifully and are great to have on the road with me. Great pens and great value. As always, thank you my friend."
K. H., Beverly Hills, CA

"Hi Norman, I wanted to let you know that I received the pen. It's a great value-looks more expensive than it is, writes well so far with no skipping and hard-starting issues. Great job!"
F. C., Chatham, NJ

"Norman, I just received this beautiful pen and wanted to say it is absolutely beautiful and "writes like a dream." I take a lot of notes and it is just perfect in size and weight for notes -- just works like a charm. It works so well, that I'd like to place an order for another one. I especially enjoy your personalized notes and as always, than you so much for all your help!!!"
S. R., Mount Olive, NC

"Hi Norm - I've never opted to comment on one of your specials, but this Outré by Crocodile is truly a gem. Being a lefthander, it writes better than my Mont Blanc and is smoother and slicker!"
B. O. B., Nutley, NJ

"Well this blows my mind! I had one of the original MB pens exactly like this (minus the top "ruby") and liked the pen but not the filling mechanism. So now I have the same precious resin :) pen and a sensible filling system!...One thing I do like is that the "ruby" isn't deep red. It actually looks more like a padparadscha sapphire, which I like better!... I'm amazed at the careful workmanship on this, thanks!"
K. S., Omaha, NE

Duke Bamboo re-stocked

Sorry for the run-on with the customer comments on the webpage. It's an issue on a few pages that have a lot of feedback, which doesn't show in my authoring software, but only when the site is published. Here are a few:

"Norman, the pens arrived and are wonderful. The Duke is a Gorgeous pen and an incredibly smooth writer (given your adjustments), the ink flow is perfect for me! The Pilot is an incredible value, the stub nib writes wonderfully and it seems to be a great value in an everyday writer. I believe I remember that it comes in a BB nib as well, if so I will be ordering one. I love stub nibs and the nib is what makes that pen a great piece. Thanks for your prompt service. Till next time...."
A. R., Huntington, NY

"Norman, Received my latest order this afternoon. Really appreciate your service in what must be trying times. Those series 329 pens took me back to my youth. They are smooth. Remind me so much of the feel of the Parker 61 although the barrel appears to be slightly smaller. I believe the Copper Burst does work better for my vision. Stands out more than the Chocolat for my reading. As usual, saving the best for last. Thanks for the selection on the Duke Bamboo. This pen in six hours has become one of my all-time favorites. To put it mildly, this is a luxury pen at a student price. The pen maneuvers with such balance that it's hard to believe the length is so great. Only comparable length I have tried is a Mount Blanc Diplomat and the Duke has it beat on balance. The dark bamboo brings back memories of a lamented lost Pelikan 800. That delicate taper makes you take a second look. And then I started to write with it. It more than matches the two pens I referred to above. Really satisfying...This Bamboo pen is so smooth...Thanks again."
J. C., Columbia, S.C.

"Hi Norman. The pen (Duke, bamboo) and pen-roll arrived! I'm still getting used to the feel of it--alas, the way I prefer to grip pens happens to span this pen's metal threaded join between section and barrel, due to the shorter section on this pen--but I can't believe how well it writes! Thanks for the tuning, you got the balance just right, not too dry, not too wet. It writes so "smoothly"... not butter smooth, but a more "utilitarian smooth", that's the best way I can put it. Reminds me a lot of the feel of the LAMY Safari in fact. I doubt the the professed German roots of the Duke are reason, but who knows. The smoothness is so at odds with nib's rather very common and basic appearance. Anyhow, thanks for a great pen, it's vying for top spot of "daily pen" with my Safari now. BTW, I really liked the packaging (and the seal!)."
M. K., Waterloo, Canada

Jinhao Black Dreadnaught re-stocked

This photo shows the Jinhao Black Dreadnaught side-by-side with a Montblanc 149.

"The pen arrived yesterday. It looks great, a bit heavy though. And it writes magnificent, the point really slides over the paper. I also have the original mb149 meisterstück, but i would not know which one of them writes the better. Thanks for the very correct handling and shipping. Kind regards,"
J. V., Belgium

"Norman, my order arrived today and I am a very very happy customer !!!!! I want to complement you on the wonderful prompt, efficient and polite way that you processed my order. The hand written note was a very nice touch. If only more companies realized how important small things are, perhaps more companies would have more customers that return again and again. Now for the pens. WOW!!! After the converters had short wash up with Mr Clean and a good rinse I inked the pens with my favourite Diamine ink. I can not say enough about how smooth the nibs are or how well the ink flows. I was absolutely taken by surprise by the performance. I always had a rather dim view of Chinese pens, given the rather disparaging comments that we hear at the typical pen show from collectors. Until now I was a confirmed Conway Stewart and Onoto user with a few Pelikan and Mt Blanc pens. The nibs on these Chinese pens perform better than other pens in my collection. I believe that I have become an enthusiastic convert to Chinese pens. The only thing I still am unable to work out is why Chinese pens have not taken over more of the market and why the high quality and performance of these pens is not more well known and do not claim a greater share of the market. Niceties of finish are ever so fine but it really is about the nib and the paper. Thanks for making this a very fine and enjoyable experience. Please keep doing business the way that you are doing it now. Good quality and careful customer service are becoming rare."
B. M., Enfield, CT

"Hi Norman, I just wanted to let you know that I believe that my new Jinhao Dreadnought pen is the best one I have purchased from you to date. I like the feel immensely, with or without the cap attached, while writing. It is smooth as silk. I'll buy more Jinhao in the future!"
W. M., Davenport, IA

"Hey Norman, What a surprise! I got home from the office and found the Jinhao 159 Black Dreadnaught waiting to be tried out...WOW, I didn't think it would arrive so soon. And it has not disappointed! This is a great pen-by far my biggest in size and the best value...$35 ??? AMAZING!!! It has such a smooth stroke and I am running out of superlatives so I'd better get back to writing. Thanks for bringing this awesome pen to the USA! Best regards."
R. D., Leawood, KS
