Is it just me, or has everyone else noticed the drastic increase in the cost to ship stuff outside the US??
I have shipped two items overseas since the postal increase the beginning of this month. One pen to the U.K. for $6.50, and a pen set to Russia for $9.50! These items used to ship Standard International shipping for a mere $1-1.50 more than Domestic First class shipping! The costs have doubled as far as I can tell!!
I just told someone from Spain on ebay that I can sell them a cap for $6, but I need $10 to ship it!! I have not heard from them, and I doubt that I will! It seems the days of sending pens and pen parts outside the US is coming to an end (unless you are a store/business, and can write off some of these expenses)!

I reckon if you are surprised at the cost of postage from the US to other countries you would be taken aback even more if you saw the costs from Oz to, for instance, the US.
I had the misfortune to buy some pieces (not pens) on ebay and naturally I had to pay the postage to receive the parcel. Upon opening the parcel I knew that the contents were not as described and started negotiations to return it. The original cost to send out here by air was about $45. To return the same item by sea was over $55. If by air, it was going to come close to $100-.
Without getting political as this is not the intention - you are only going through the same cost cutting procedures that we underwent about 40 years ago. I note that Saturday mail deliveries are going to cease in the US soon. We lost 2 deliveries a day by the postie when I was "knee high to a grass-hopper", as I said about 40 years ago, and I can't remember when we had Saturday mail deliveries - nor parcel deliveries.
We've just been informed that due to fewer people writing and using "snail mail" our postage will increase by up to 30%. Domestic letters will remain at 60c.
I know this is an old thread from last year, but wanted to add: I had about a 70% decrease in my International sales over the year before because of the postal increases in International rates(they doubled to most countries over the year before). On another note, there will not be any increases this year in First Class International, nor decreases lol, and a VERY small decrease in Priority International.
